Artbook re-release and storybook premiere set for late-summer/fall release
North American publisher Viz Media recently announced the release of Princess Mononoke: The First Story – a storybook featuring Hayo Miyazaki’s original concept behind the critically acclaimed film. Fans of Miyazaki’s work and Princess Mononoke in particular can experience the magic the original Princess Mononoke story made almost 20 years prior the release of the iconic film, as well as his watercolor illustrations and early character designs, which hints at inspirations for Totoro and other beloved characters.
Viz also announced the planned October re-release of The Art of Princess Mononoke – complete with new illustrations, interviews, and finished cels from the award-winning animated film.
The Art of Princess Mononoke is set for an August 2014 release and the Princess Mononoke: The First Story storybook is set to debut later in October.
